Saving food. Changing lives.

Redistributing surplus food

FareShare tackles food waste and fights hunger. We do this by taking surplus, in-date food from the food and drink industry, which is often destined for waste, and taking it to over 2,000 charities and community projects in the UK who in turn use it to make nutritious meals for their service users - Britain's hidden hungry. Last year we redistributed 7,493 tonnes of food to 2,029 charities, providing enough food for 16.2 million meals, feeding around 158,000 people a week. By keeping this food out of landfill, we saved the voluntary sector an estimated £20million and prevented more than 25,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
