Female Empowerment in Iraq
AMAR International Charitable Foundation

To empower women through building skills, knowledge and earning capabilities.

The Government of Iraq estimates there up to 1 million widows and female heads of household in Iraq. Women often enter into marriage before completing school and therefore lack the knowledge and skills to find suitable employment.

Since 2010, AMAR has been tackling this issue by providing education and vocational skills training to widows and female heads of household, empowering women to gain employment and provide income for their families. AMAR establishes and runs training centres for women which provide courses in a range of skills, from sewing and hairdressing to business and IT.
